Overview
The Associate Liaison Officer assists in liaising with host country stakeholders and multilateral organizations on conflict prevention, mediation, and peacebuilding, focusing on community, economic, and social reintegration.
Key Responsibilities
- Gathers, selects and analyses information on topics of interest.
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge of political events affecting reintegration.
- Monitors national and regional political developments and provides advice.
- Promotes strategic partnerships and maintains contacts with UN entities and international organizations.
- Monitors actions taken by intergovernmental groups, UN organizations, and NGOs.
- Participates in fact-finding missions.
- Supports the maintenance of databases tracking reintegration progress.
- Prepares meetings with host country officials.
- Ensures UNVMC policies and code of conduct are followed.
Required Experience
- A minimum of two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in political science, international relations, law, disarmament, security, development management, conflict resolution or related area is required.
- Experience in monitoring reintegration and socio economic development in a complex field location is desirable.
- Experience working in support of the Colombia peace process is desirable.
- Experience working on the reintegration process of former combatants is desirable.
- Experience in data collection and analysis is desirable.
Qualifications
- Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in Social Sciences, Political Science, Law, Management or Rural Development, or a related field is required.
- A first-level university degree with a combination of two (2) additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
- Professional training in rural and urban development, and conflict prevention is desirable.
