Overview
The Programme Analyst substantively contributes to the effective management of UNFPA activities in the areas of Population and Development. S/he analyses and assesses relevant political, social and economic trends and provides substantive inputs to project formulation and evaluation.
Key Responsibilities
- Contributes substantively to the formulation and design of the country programme and its component projects in the areas of Population and Development.
- Analyzes and interprets the political, social and economic environment relevant to Population and Development issues.
- Keeps abreast of new policy developments and strategies analyzing policy papers, strategy documents, national plans and development frameworks.
- Expedites and coordinates programme implementation establishing collaborative relationships with executing agencies, experts, government counterparts and other UN agencies.
- Coordinates the work from UNFPA side on supporting the government in the area of data, demographic resilience and forecasts.
- Lead and coordinate UN Data Group.
- Lead on documenting knowledge and technical papers on current and emerging trends in the area of Population and Development issues.
- Assists advocacy and resource mobilization efforts of Country Office by preparing relevant documentation.
- Monitors project expenditures and disbursements to ensure delivery is in line with approved project budgets.
Required Experience
- 2 years of experience at the national or international level in designing, managing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating development programs and projects.
- Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages is required.
Qualifications
• Advanced Degree in Population study, Demography, Statistics, Economics, Public Administration, International Development, or related field.
