Overview
The Child Protection Officer will play a critical role in advancing UNICEF’s mission to protect children from violence, exploitation and abuse, and to ensure their rights are upheld. The role contributes directly to creating a safer, more inclusive and equitable environment for children and adolescents.
Key Responsibilities
- Support to programme development and planning
- Programme management, monitoring and delivery of results
- Technical and operational support to programme implementation
- Networking, advocacy and partnership building
- Innovation, knowledge management and capacity building
Required Experience
- A minimum of two years of professional experience in program planning, implementation and management in child protection related areas is required.
- Relevant experience in emergency context is considered an asset.
- Relevant experience in child protection related areas in a UN system agency or international child rights organization is also considered as an asset.
- Experience in normative analysis and knowledge of justice for children and child rights are added advantages.
- Relevant experience in areas such as gender, adolescent development and migration is considered a plus.
- Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts is highly desirable.
Qualifications
A completed bachelor’s degree or equivalent (First Level University Degree) in international development, law, international human rights, social sciences, or another relevant field is required.
