Overview

The Associate Procurement Officer (General Operations) plans procurement actions for assigned projects, reviews technical specifications, and assists staff with procurement policies and procedures.


Key Responsibilities
  • Plan procurement actions for assigned projects.
  • Review and analyse technical specifications.
  • Assist staff in matters regarding procurement policies and procedures.
  • Develop vendor pre-qualifying criteria.
  • Solicit and evaluate bids/proposals/quotations.
  • Compile and present procurement data.
  • Participate in market and supplier research.
  • Prepare reports, correspondence, and documents on procurement-related matters.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Experience

A minimum of two years (four years with a first-level university degree) of progressively responsible professional experience in procurement or supply chain roles in a commercial/industry environment. Previous experience with procurement within the United Nations is highly desirable. Knowledge of procurement procedures, as well as of the relevant marketplace, preferably certified CIPS and UNGM experiences. Very good knowledge of Microsoft standard applications, particularly word, Excel spreadsheets and ERP systems, preferably SAP/procurement module.

Qualifications

An advanced university degree in business administration, public administration, commerce, audit, procurement, law, or related field. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience is accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. Certification of Level 2 Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) or an equivalent level of qualification granted by a professional association or educational institute is highly desirable.

Languages Required
Proficiency in one of the working languages of the Court, English or French, is required. Working knowledge of the other is required.
Languages Preferred
Knowledge of another official language of the Court (Arabic, Chinese, Russian and Spanish) would be considered an asset.
Contract Duration
For initial appointments, the Court offers a two-year appointment with the possibility of extension.
