Overview

The Headquarters Security Officer (HQSO) is responsible for the application of NATO HQ Security Regulations, investigating incidents, and setting rules to prevent future occurrences. They also oversee construction projects and provide security advice.


Key Responsibilities
  • Investigate incidents of misconduct and security breaches or infractions.
  • Set rules based on NATO HQ Security Regulations to prevent incidents.
  • Oversee construction projects in NATO HQ.
  • Provide advice on security in construction and site setup.
  • Assist and support the Head, HQ Security and Awareness, to implement security measures.
  • Enforce security regulations and manage access.
  • Propose and draft security procedures.
  • Manage, monitor, and supervise work projects.
  • Propose and follow budgets, annual expenditure, and financial resources.
  • Train and build a professional and motivated team.
  • Advise on professional education and training of staff.
  • Ensure effective cooperation and maintain interaction with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Coordinate the insertion of security clauses with stakeholders involved in contracts.
Required Experience
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in the implementation of security policies and the development of security procedures.
  • Experience in the conduct of security investigations.
  • Experience in construction security and drafting of construction security plans (advantage).
  • Experience in interpretation and application of security policies and development of local security procedures (advantage).
  • Knowledge of computer security and application of information access restrictions (advantage).
Qualifications

• A university degree, or an equivalent level of qualification relevant to the position.

• Possess the following minimum levels in the official languages of NATO (English/ French): V (“Advanced”) in one and III (“Intermediate”) in the other.
