Overview

The Communication Expert will prepare and implement communication strategies for UNIDO projects, develop content, and manage digital platforms to promote project progress and achievements.


Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare a communication strategy and action plan for ITPO Tokyo core projects and GS project.
  • Prepare, edit, and proofread new content focused on projects and UNIDO stakeholders.
  • Develop content and graphic design for project-related documents.
  • Coordinate communication and digital-brand building activities with national and regional counterparts.
  • Liaise with internal and external partners, including reviewing multimedia.
  • Respond to information requests and inquiries.
  • Prepare and coordinate project-related correspondence.
  • Design and deliver social media strategies and manage website updates.
  • Create and/or coordinate multimedia content across multiple social platforms.
  • Coordinate event management and preparation for project-related events.
  • Build relationships with mass media institutions.
  • Coordinate and provide technical guidance to communication personnel.
Required Experience
  • At least 8 years of relevant professional experience with a Bachelor's degree.
  • At least 5 years of relevant professional experience with a Master's degree.
  • At least 3 years of relevant professional experience with a Doctorate.
  • Progressively responsible working experience, including some at the international level, in project execution or coordination, particularly in public relations, communication, developing communication/visibility strategy and/or advice for promoting technical cooperation projects.
  • Experience in drafting, editing, writing press release, media assets/excerpts.
  • Experience in tailoring key messages to different target audiences.
Qualifications
  • A first-level university degree (Bachelor’s or equivalent) in economics, international relations, public relations, communications, journalism or in a closely related field is required.
  • An advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) or a Doctorate in the same fields is accepted with a reduced requirement for years of professional experience.

Fluency in written and oral English and Japanese is required.
Languages Preferred
Fluency or working knowledge of another official language of the United Nations is desirable.
