Overview
The Associate Information Management Officer-Data Analyst supports decision-making processes by producing data-driven analysis and insights. The role involves managing and analyzing data, visualizing and mapping data, and coordinating information management.
Key Responsibilities
- Compile, clean, and harmonize datasets from multiple sources for analysis.
- Develop and implement databases and data collection systems.
- Develop and maintain the front-end and back-end of regional humanitarian databases.
- Advise on data standards integration into local systems and processes.
- Act as content editor and website manager for OCHA ROWCA platforms.
- Serve as focal point for humanitarian financing and create financing models.
- Act as focal point for JIAF to support country offices during surge missions.
- Create infographics and data visualizations for reports and presentations.
- Utilize new visualization technologies, including interactive dashboards and geospatial tools.
- Analyze and evaluate location-specific datasets using statistical and geospatial techniques.
- Produce geospatial outputs such as maps, online databases, and dynamic web maps.
- Develop and document methodologies, processes, and quality assurance procedures for geospatial data.
- Provide remote and in-person information management support to country and regional offices.
- Support the design and implementation of capacity-building initiatives in information management.
- Stay informed about current and emerging information management trends and technologies.
Required Experience
- At least 2 years (with a Master's) or 4 years (with a Bachelor's) of experience in applied analytics, business intelligence, statistics, project management, stakeholder management, or related fields.
- Experience using data to support decision-making, strategy development, and implementation.
- Experience using self-service analytics and data visualization tools (MS Power BI, Qlik, Tableau, or equivalents), or business intelligence tools (SAP Business Objects, etc.).
- Experience managing version control tools such as Git is highly desirable.
- Experience with databases or programming languages (SQL, Python, R) is desirable.
- Recent experience working in information management for a regional office of a UN agency is an asset.
- Advanced Excel and PowerPoint experience is desirable.
Qualifications
- Advanced university degree (Master's or equivalent) in computer science, data science, analytics, statistics, information management, public administration, management, or a related field, OR
- A first university degree (Bachelor's or equivalent) with two additional years of relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of a Master's degree.
