Overview
The Volunteer Specialist is responsible for collaborating with IRC staff to determine volunteer, intern, and mentor needs, and will recruit, screen, train, and supervise these individuals. The Specialist will also assist with community engagement efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Liaise with program managers on intern/volunteer opportunities.
- Organize recruitment cycles and manage application and interview processes.
- Oversee onboarding and exit processes for interns and volunteers.
- Maintain relationships with universities and recruitment platforms.
- Conduct outreach activities to attract new volunteers.
- Maintain regular communication with volunteers.
- Enter case notes and records in Salesforce database.
- Manage timesheets and timesheet entries.
- Solicit opportunities to speak publicly about IRC's work.
- Conduct recognition and appreciation events for volunteers and interns.
- Create content and outreach materials.
- Aid with events, fundraisers, and community engagement.
- Support in facilitating in-kind donations.
- Represent IRC at local meetings, seminars, forums, and community outreach opportunities.
- Conduct outreach, networking activities, and advertising.
- Assist in managing shared mailboxes, social media pages, and external-facing communication.
- Organize and lead info session webinars.
- Update and develop resources to manage intern and volunteer lifecycle.
- Supervise community engagement interns or other volunteers.
Required Experience
Minimum of 1-2 years of related experience.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college preferred.
