Overview

The incumbent will carry out a variety of duties in processing documents and ensuring follow-up in the training of new staff members. The role requires proofreading, editing, formatting, and verifying Spanish texts for accuracy and conformity with standards.


Key Responsibilities
  • Proofread Spanish texts for precision, quality, and conformity with standards.
  • Edit, insert corrections, format, and prepare documents, including complex tables and reports.
  • Verify grammar, syntax, references, style, punctuation, and spelling of Spanish texts.
  • Consult editors, translators, and revisers regarding discrepancies.
  • Check that all components of the original text are reflected in the final document.
  • Align bi-texts to support translation memories.
  • Convert texts into different formats using various software programs.
  • Train or guide staff on document processing procedures.
  • Deal with high volumes of documents and meet deadlines.
  • Perform other duties as required for the effective operation of the word processing unit.
Required Experience

At least five years of relevant professional experience.

Qualifications

Secondary education or equivalent to university entrance standard is essential.

Languages Required
Excellent command of Spanish both written and oral to mother tongue standard with excellent knowledge of grammar and spelling is essential. Complete proficiency in English, both written and oral is essential.
Languages Preferred
Working knowledge of any other official UN language would be an asset.

Remuneration
Approximately £43,490 net per annum, (subject to deductions), free of income tax in the UK. Excellent benefits including medical insurance and UN pension scheme.
