Overview

Internship supporting the Science Team of the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals (CMS) Secretariat, focusing on crosscutting issues such as climate change and wildlife health.


Key Responsibilities
  • assist with the implementation of Decisions taken at COP15 on crosscutting issues;
  • assist in the planning and coordination of working groups;
  • contribute to maintaining the CMS Appendices and online databases;
  • contribute to the development of strategies and action plans;
  • assist in the preparation and follow-up of meetings and workshops;
  • contribute to the preparation of background documents;
  • assist with the development of project proposals and implementation;
  • contribute to the management of national reporting cycle;
  • contribute to development of specific websites and communications products;
  • assist in the preparation of publications and outreach material;
  • participate at relevant meetings and assist with the implementation of the Secretariats’ work programme.
Required Experience

Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). Applicants must be computer literate in standard software applications.

Languages Required
Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship.
Languages Preferred
Knowledge of French or Spanish is desirable.
Contract Duration
3-6 months
Work Modality
However, the internship can also be a remote internship, if needed, based on the request of a successful candidate.
Remuneration
The internship is UNPAID. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
