Overview

The Movement Operations Assistant supports the organized movement of persons in need of international migration assistance, coordinating travel arrangements and providing administrative support.


Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with scheduling and arranging travel for individuals including beneficiaries and IOM staff.
  • Perform airport services such as providing custodial care of travel documentation and assisting with airport formalities.
  • Provide support to project activities through the preparation of relevant reports.
  • Assist with arrangements for escorts accompanying vulnerable individuals.
  • Provide pre-departure information on pre-embarkation procedures and travel-related requirements.
  • Assist with administrative tasks related to movement management.
  • Inform the supervisor regularly on work accomplished and any issues requiring attention.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of applicable SOPs, related systems and databases, and IOM Standards of Conduct.
  • Maintain the confidentiality and integrity of all relevant paperwork.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned.
Required Experience
  • High school diploma with four years of relevant experience; or, Bachelor’s degree with two years of relevant professional experience.
  • Prior Movement Operations or transportation experience;
  • Experience in working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking and other vulnerable groups;
  • Prior work experience with international organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.
Qualifications

High school diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law or related fields from an accredited academic institution.

Languages Required
All IOM staff members in all categories are required to be fluent in one of the IOM's official languages (English, French, Spanish). Fluency in English is required (oral and written).
Languages Preferred
working knowledge of Norwegian is a distinct advantage.
