Overview
Contribute to the planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting of Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) activities integrated within the Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration (AVRR) programme, with a focus on the psychosocial needs of vulnerable migrants and returnees.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify protocols to promote MHPSS and design operational plans to enhance access to specialized and focused services.
- Provide initial screening of migrants in distressed and pre-existent mental health conditions, including suicidal risk assessments.
- Provide specialized and focused MHPSS services and referral to psychiatric/health care.
- Identify migrants requiring protection services and refer them to relevant units/providers.
- Support cultural orientation activities.
- Support the AVRR program with psychosocial sessions to prepare migrants for travel and reintegration.
- Provide technical guidance and oversight for MHPSS initiatives, ensuring alignment with guidelines and frameworks.
- Develop training materials for staff and partners.
- Train MHPSS focal points and national stakeholders.
- Provide training sessions on Psychological First Aid (PFA) to staff.
- Contribute to the contextualization and updating of technical tools and protocols.
- Ensure MHPSS interventions are life-saving oriented, gender-responsive, culturally adapted, and inclusive.
- Ensure confidentiality and privacy of personal information.
- Prepare clear and concise reports of all activities.
- Contribute to concept notes, project proposals, and donor reports.
- Contribute to the documentation and dissemination of lessons learned and good practices.
- Undertake duty travel to provide on-site technical support, mentoring, and supervision.
- Perform any other relevant duties as assigned.
Required Experience
- Three years of relevant professional experience with a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology, Counselling, or related fields; or five years of relevant professional experience with a University degree in the same fields.
- Proven experience in integrating MHPSS in migrants’ post-assistance and Migrant Reception Centers (MRCs).
- Experience in clinical supervision and institutional capacity building is an asset.
- Experience working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, survivors of Gender-Based Violence (GBV), and other vulnerable groups.
- Knowledge and experience in facilitating training and developing training curricula.
- Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-governmental or government institutions/organizations in a multi-cultural setting.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology, Counselling, or related fields from an accredited academic institution; or University degree in the above fields.
- Professional accreditation from a recognized medical, psychological, or counselling association or society is an advantage.
