Overview
Volunteer as an ornithologist to conduct fieldwork, including species monitoring, bird ringing, and habitat maintenance. The role also involves communication tasks and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitoring species through transects, listening stations, territory checks and scientific bird ringing.
- Studying breeding biology, migration, relation with humans, diet and effects from climate change.
- Physical work such as climbing mountains, building nest boxes and gardening.
- Communication tasks involving helping in courses, giving talks on events and creating social media content.
- Data entry, writing a report and giving a presentation about each project.
- Maintenance tasks on house and garden and welcoming guests.
Required Experience
Experience with GIS and R, as well as strong communication or social media outreach skills, are highly valued. No previous bird identification skills are required, though that is a plus.
Qualifications
A scientific or environmental background is a plus.
