Overview

Provide expertise in developing communication materials to convey the impact of the Division's work and raise the organization's profile on the Nature subprogramme. Coordinate strategic engagement in key events and provide recommendations to enhance visibility.


Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and review communication materials such as briefing notes, speaking points, publication forewords, media articles, and preparation for media interviews.
  • Conduct analytical review, development, and compilation of substantive messages, ensuring alignment with Division and UNEP priorities.
  • Coordinate planning and delivery for strategic engagement in key events and anticipate communication outcomes.
  • Monitor news and events for strategic engagement, recommending how UNEP's perspectives can contribute to global debates.
  • Provide alerts as needed to respond to major trends and opportunities.
Required Experience

Minimum ten years of work experience in communication or related fields is required. Experience in preparing communication and advocacy related materials in an international organizational setting in an environmental context is required.

Qualifications

Advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) in Communications, International Relations, Political Science or Development Studies; or a related field is required. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
