Overview
The Migration Health Nurse will perform daily nursing activities in the Migration Health Assessment Clinic (MHAC) and provide information and explanations to migrants and/or refugees regarding health assessments and treatments.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily nursing activities in the MHAC including medical examinations, sample collection, imaging, laboratory testing, vaccinations, TB management, treatment and referrals, pre-departure procedures, and documentation.
- Provide information and detailed explanations to migrants and/or refugees on the migration health assessment process and treatments/referrals.
- Ensure proper identification and follow-up through history taking, biodata collection, ID verification, and maintaining a register of applicants.
- Follow Health Assessment Programme’s check lists and SOP’s and maintain standard universal precautions.
- Verify proper transportation of samples to the laboratory.
- Provide pre and/or post counselling on TB or HIV education, prevention, and management.
- Prepare administrative reports and program updates.
- Assist with pre-departure documents, briefings, and preparations.
- Maintain collaborative relationships with various partners.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned.
Required Experience
- For Bachelor's Degree holder a minimum of three years of relevant clinical experience and for Diploma holder a minimum of five years of relevant clinical experience.
- Training or working experience in the areas of Tuberculosis management, mass immunizations, communicable diseases, laboratory testing or public health is an advantage.
- Knowledge of and experience in clinical nursing.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Nursing from an accredited academic institution in Nursing in countries where the Diploma allows to fulfil the full scope of responsibilities defined in PDs.
- A valid license to practice nursing in the country of duty station.
