Overview
The role holder will provide high quality, strategic legal advice and support to Save the Children International's Global Teams and Country Offices, primarily supporting international programme delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise on international programming operations and legal risk.
- Support Country Offices in corporate or contractual enquiries.
- Lead on legal advice for SCI Global Teams operations.
- Advise on governance requirements of a global organisation.
- Manage contractual and legal risk matters/projects.
- Manage relationships with certain SCI Global Teams.
- Manage other aspects of the legal team, such as pro bono relationships and internal training.
- Undertake line management and/or mentoring of junior team members.
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of contracts.
- Identify opportunities for training and new legal tools to manage and mitigate organisational risk.
- Advise on legal compliance areas such as fraud, sanctions, and anti-terrorism.
Required Experience
- Senior level post-qualification experience gained in a reputable private practice or in-house legal team in general corporate/commercial, charity/not-for profit, dispute resolution, or regulatory law.
- Experience in employment, finance, data protection, intellectual property or dispute resolution is desirable.
- Experience in the international development / humanitarian and/or charity sectors is desirable.
- Experience working in an international organisation is desirable.
- Experience operating in a range of jurisdictions, including instructing overseas counsel, is desirable.
- Experience working in an in-house legal team is desirable.
Qualifications
UK or common law qualified lawyer or barrister; strong candidates who are qualified lawyers in non-common law jurisdictions will be considered.
