Overview
The Humanitarian Disarmament and Peacebuilding Coordinator will be responsible for developing programme strategies, ensuring representation and advocacy in humanitarian mine action and peacebuilding, and contributing to portfolio development and capacity building.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical support and capacity building to peacebuilding and humanitarian mine action staff.
- Guide HDP staff on capacity development and engagement with national partners.
- Provide guidance and capacity building to local stakeholders.
- Support conflict sensitivity across sectors.
- Lead on the design and formulation of HDP programming technical components.
- Roll out HDP 2026 strategy and integrate HDP within the country strategy.
- Support identification of new methods for peacebuilding programming.
- Support quality programme assessments, baseline studies, reviews, and evaluations.
- Undertake mapping of national peacebuilding and/or humanitarian mine action organizations.
- Work with other sector leads to identify and develop areas for HDP integration.
- Support resource mobilization efforts, including engagement with donors and stakeholders.
- Represent DRC in relevant meetings and external events.
- Coordinate with other actors to link DRC’s HDP programming into other initiatives.
- Identify new partners and approaches for fundraising in the HDP sector.
- Ensure adherence to DRC and HMA’s Age, Gender, and Diversity policy.
- Ensure compliance with zero-tolerance to Sexual Exploitation and Abuse policy.
- Ensure compliance with DRC guidelines and policies on HR, admin, finance, and supply.
- Assist in developing job descriptions and recruiting HDP staff.
- Perform other relevant tasks as requested.
Required Experience
- Minimum 5 years of practical experience in HDP programming, including with an international NGO.
- Experience and strong understanding of humanitarian mine action programmes is essential.
- Experience in capacity building and training of staff in humanitarian mine action programming, and or conflict management, mediation, and dialogue facilitation.
- Proven experience with representation in Clusters, Working groups and other relevant technical bodies.
- Proven experience with impactfully engaging with stakeholders and advocacy initiatives.
- Proven experience with strategy development, fundraising, and advocacy.
- Demonstrable leadership and management skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to apply an age, gender and diversity (AGD) and Conflict Sensitive approach to programming.
- Experience working with national partners in social cohesion initiatives desirable.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in political science, international development, peace and conflict studies or other relevant fields.
- Master’s degree is desired.
- Practical trainings or courses in Quality Management, EORE and AGDM in mine action.
- Training in peacebuilding, conflict management, mediation and dialogue facilitation are an advantage.
