Overview

The Officer, Defence Policy is responsible for developing policy papers, reports, and briefing materials on capability development and delivery, and for creating initiatives to enhance cooperation with partners, specifically Ukraine.


Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain knowledge and expertise on capability development and delivery.
  • Lead efforts to develop and coordinate cooperation with Ukraine.
  • Provide advice and recommendations for implementation of Ukraine-related partnership policy implications.
  • Support the development of policies, reports, and initiatives within the Conference of National Armaments Directors and Defence Industrial Production Board.
  • Lead the development and implementation of the work plan for the NATO Ukraine Council Working Group on Defence Technical Cooperation.
  • Draft, review, and submit policy documents related to capability development, delivery, defence production, and engagement with Ukraine.
  • Offer support to Allies, coordinate meetings, and share information.
  • Plan and arrange meetings of the NATO Ukraine Council Working Group on Defence Technical Cooperation.
  • Represent NATO in various settings, giving presentations and interacting with officials and industry.
  • Promote a positive work environment, provide feedback, mentoring, coaching, and training.
Required Experience

At least 6 years of experience working in the fields of defence policy, defence planning or capability development, including experience in drafting policies.

Qualifications

A university degree, or an equivalent level of qualification, in a field relevant for this position.

Possess the following minimum levels of NATO’s official languages (English/French): V (“Advanced”) in one; I (“Beginner”) in the other.
