Overview

Support the integration of Gender-Based Violence and protection risk mitigation in evacuation centres in Vanuatu.


Key Responsibilities
  • Review and update GBV and Protection Risk Mitigation Guidelines and SOP in Evacuation Centres.
  • Pilot Guidelines, SOP and IEC materials across three provinces.
  • Convene a validation workshop with government and key stakeholders.
  • Translate the Guidelines into Bislama.
  • Design and print the Guidelines and awareness posters.
  • Develop training module for online and offline use.
  • Conduct a two-day training workshop for various stakeholders.
Required Experience

Minimum 7 years of progressively responsible professional experience in gender equality, protection, GBV prevention and response, humanitarian programming, disaster risk reduction, or emergency management. Demonstrated experience in the development, review, and revision of GBV, protection, or humanitarian guidelines, policies, standards, and operational tools. Proven experience in Gender-Based Violence in Emergencies (GBViE) programming. Experience conducting risk assessments and developing assessment tools. Proven track record in the design and development of Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials. Experience integrating gender equality, disability inclusion, child protection, safeguarding, and protection principles into humanitarian and disaster preparedness initiatives. Demonstrated experience working with government agencies, humanitarian actors, civil society organizations, women's organizations, and community stakeholders. Experience facilitating stakeholder consultations, workshops, validation meetings, and technical review processes. Previous work experience in Vanuatu or other Pacific Island Countries is highly desirable. Experience supporting emergency preparedness and management systems is an advantage. Experience in working with relevant government agencies will be considered an advantage. Prior experience with IOM or a relevant UN agency will be considered an advantage.

Qualifications

Advanced university degree (Master's degree preferred) in Gender Studies, Social Sciences, Development Studies, Human Rights, Public Health, Disaster Risk Reduction, Humanitarian Action, International Development, Law, Communications, or a related field. Specialized training or certification in Gender-Based Violence (GBV), Protection, Gender in Emergencies, Gender-Based Violence in Emergencies (GBViE), Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA), or related areas is an asset.
