Overview

The role of Secretary to the Director in the Directorate-General Research and Innovation (DG RTD) involves providing general support to the Director, managing their agenda, organizing meetings, and preparing missions.


Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the Director's agenda
  • Organize internal and external meetings
  • Prepare missions
  • Manage incoming mail for the Director
  • Transmit requests to Units and follow up on deadlines
  • Act as the Directorate’s point of contact for colleagues and visitors
  • Assist with day-to-day management and coordination of administrative work streams
  • Assist with the Directorate's coordination of briefings for the Commissioner, Director-General, and Director
Required Experience

At least two years’ relevant experience is essential and more than five years’ experience would be considered an asset.

Qualifications
  • A level of post-secondary education attested by a diploma, or
  • A level of secondary education attested by a diploma giving access to post-secondary education, and appropriate professional experience of at least three years.
Other Details
Languages Required
• A thorough knowledge (minimum level C1) of one of the 24 official languages of the EU • A satisfactory knowledge (minimum level B2) of a second official language of the EU, to the extent necessary for the performance of the duties. • Fluent English is essential.
Languages Preferred
Knowledge of other Union languages is an asset.
Contract Duration
The duration of the 1st contract will be up to 4 years. The contract might then be extended only once for a maximum of 2 years.
Work Modality
The place of employment will be Brussels.
Remuneration
The pay of staff members consists of a basic salary supplemented with specific allowances, including, where applicable, expatriation and family allowances.
