Overview
The Communication Officer will support the country communication strategy, regional and global campaigns, and resource mobilization through the timely production of communication products and materials. The role also involves providing media relations support and undertaking monitoring and evaluation activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement communication work plan and strategy.
- Gather content and coverage of country efforts.
- Develop country-specific and local community materials.
- Support production of advocacy and communication materials.
- Assist in drafting and editing articles, press releases, and human interest stories.
- Oversee qualitative aspects of production, including translations and reviews.
- Maintain a documentation centre for communication materials.
- Recommend appropriate information and communication materials for media and advocacy.
- Recommend contacts, networks, resources, and processes for communication activities.
- Provide professional assistance in developing and maintaining media contact information and relationships.
- Maintain and update media relations contact list/database.
- Ensure rapid and accurate information dissemination to the media.
- Assist in developing and maintaining collaboration with mass media and relevant groups.
- Prepare background communication and promotional materials for media and special interest groups.
- Assist in planning, logistic, and administrative arrangements for media and special interest groups.
- Collaborate with the media through activities such as organizing project site visits and facilitating photo coverage.
- Monitor and evaluate the use and effectiveness of media materials.
- Coordinate audience research and compile/analyse relevant data.
- Monitor and evaluate dissemination and impact of advocacy and communication materials.
- Monitor public perception of UNICEF and recommend actions.
- Provide feedback on global communication materials.
- Ensure good quality data collection, analysis, evaluation, and reporting.
- Undertake lessons learned reviews of communication experiences.
- Help organize and generate public support for special events.
- Maintain and update celebrity and partner contact lists/database.
- Monitor/document process and effectiveness of working with individuals/organizations.
- Prepare background communication and promotional materials for briefings and visits of various stakeholders.
Required Experience
Minimum Two years practical professional work experience in communication, print and broadcast media, or interactive digital media. Field work experience and background or familiarity with emergency situations is required.
Qualifications
Bachelor or equivalent (First Level University Degree) in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations/Communication and any other related fields.
