Overview
The National Protocol & Liaison Officer will coordinate, liaise, and handle all protocol matters for IOM Offices based in Cairo, Egypt, ensuring timely processing of requests and solving complex protocol issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform protocol and logistics liaison with the United Nations Office in Egypt and the Government of the Republic of Egypt.
- Coordinate with UN and Government representatives to resolve protocol matters.
- Stay updated on Host Country protocols and relevant procedures.
- Provide information and briefings to staff on immigration, duty-free, and VAT exemptions.
- Submit reimbursement requests for taxes.
- Facilitate accreditations for IOM officials.
- Process applications for re-entry permits and residency-related documents for international staff.
- Coordinate with procurement and logistics for imports/exports.
- Maintain records of privileges and immunities.
- Track expiry dates of documents and visas, and remind staff for renewals.
- Maintain documentation of international staff residency and import/export status.
- Update vehicle registration and red number plates.
- Review draft correspondence.
- Provide guidance on obtaining e-visas and referred visas for staff travelling to Egypt.
- Assist in obtaining UNLPs for staff.
- Perform any other assigned duties.
Required Experience
- Knowledge of protocol in a governmental or international organization, including experience working with the United Nations System.
- Experience in and knowledge of accepted norms, rules, and customs of international diplomatic protocol, including practices developed within the United Nations System or similar international organization.
- Knowledge of administrative procedures and practices of international organizations and the United Nations System.
- Experience in applying various administrative rules and regulations.
- Demonstrated conceptual, analytical, and evaluative experience in conducting independent research and analysis.
- Ability to identify issues, formulate opinions, make conclusions, and recommendations.
- Experience in liaising with governmental and diplomatic authorities, as well as national and international institutions.
Qualifications
- Completed Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Law and/or International Relations or other related fields, or;
- University Degree in Business Administration, Law and/or International Relations with two years of relevant professional experience.
