Overview
The Health and Nutrition Project Officer is responsible for the management of health and nutrition project activities, supporting the daily operational management of primary health care activities, and providing technical support to service providers.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise primary health care activities focusing on CMAM, IMCI, OPD, RH services, EPI, IYCF, and Referral services.
- Supervise training programs for health and nutrition workers and ensure documentation.
- Raise Purchase Requests for the project and track their process.
- Provide technical support to health workers and conduct on-the-job training.
- Follow up on health worker attendance and collect sheets for incentive payments.
- Ensure activities are accomplished as per the Detailed Implementation Plan (DIP).
- Prepare procurement plans for medical items with Pharmacist officer support.
- Ensure proper management of assets, pharmaceuticals, medical supplies, and nutritional commodities.
- Ensure timely and quality implementation of activities in compliance with project and donor guidelines.
- Ensure communication, coordination, and harmonization of tools with stakeholders.
- Ensure minimum standards are maintained in accordance with humanitarian relief and MoPH guidelines.
- Conduct Health Key Performance Indicators (KPI) on a monthly basis.
- Provide technical support to H&N project assistants, partners, and government authorities.
- Attend weekly meetings with Health and Nutrition project staff.
- Ensure staff responsibilities are clearly defined and objectives are set and monitored.
- Maintain and strengthen links with NGOs, agencies, and government ministries.
- Coordinate with logistics, administration, and finance units for procurement.
- Ensure effective and efficient use of SC resources.
- Support MEAL team in assessments, evaluations, accountability, and information sharing.
- Comply with SC policies and practices.
- Perform other tasks as required by the line manager.
Required Experience
At least 3 years experience in implementing emergency health and nutrition programs with NGOs or INGOs.
Qualifications
Bachelor in Medicine or Public Health and Nutrition/ public health professional or, Bachelor in medical science (pharmacy, Medical Assistance, Nurse, laboratory, Nutrition, etc).
