Overview
The Witness Engagement Consultant will support ODIHR deployments by identifying and engaging witnesses of alleged IHL and IHRL violations for interviews within the Ukraine Monitoring Initiative.
Key Responsibilities
- Liaise with the Team Leader and UMI team to determine interviewee profiles.
- Liaise with relevant actors on the ground to identify suitable interviewees.
- Contact and vet potential interviewees.
- Collect, organize, and present information about potential interviewees.
- Assist with arranging interviewees’ travel and accommodation.
- Assist interviewees with transferring relevant media.
- Be present at the interview venue for the duration of interviews.
- Organise and conduct meetings with representatives of non-governmental organisations, authorities, and other relevant stakeholders.
- Advise the Team Leader and monitoring team on interviewee profiles for future deployments.
- Participate in briefings prior to and upon completion of deployments.
Required Experience
A minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience (previous experience in civil society or in the human rights sector will be considered an asset).
Qualifications
A minimum first level university degree in law, history, social sciences, international relations, or other related field.
