Overview

Support Executive Committee (ExCom) project review activities, promotion and operation of the AREA Training Manual registration process, analysis of Article 5 country data and compliance-related trends, and operational support to the INWIC Secretariat.


Key Responsibilities
  • Review ODS disposal project reports and related documentation.
  • Review verification reports associated with HPMPs and KIPs.
  • Review Institutional Strengthening (IS) project proposals and associated progress reports.
  • Analyse project submissions and provide technical comments and recommendations.
  • Process applications from training institutions seeking registration under the UNEP-AREA Training Manual programme.
  • Maintain an updated database of institutions that accessed materials and prepare periodic statistical reports.
  • Develop outreach and communication materials to support awareness and uptake of the programme.
  • Liaise with training institutions, vocational centres, industry associations and National Ozone Units.
  • Prepare analytical reports identifying trends, challenges and opportunities to strengthen participation and visibility of the programme.
  • Submit recommendations for improvements to registration procedures and programme implementation.
  • Analyse available Article 7 and country programme (CP) data and other relevant datasets.
  • Review HCFC and HFC consumption and production data.
  • Conduct targeted analysis of countries with UNEP-approved Kigali Implementation Plans (KIPs).
  • Identify patterns of reporting gaps, implementation delays, consumption trends or other indicators that may signal risks of non-compliance.
  • Prepare analytical reports, datasets, briefs and recommendations.
  • Contribute to the development of data-driven approaches for prioritizing compliance assistance and capacity-building activities.
  • Coordinate and document INWIC governance activities.
  • Support implementation of approved INWIC workplan activities.
  • Prepare periodic reports on implementation of INWIC activities, achievements, challenges and recommendations.
  • Organize and support virtual or in-person meetings of the INWIC Board and Working Groups.
  • Contribute to preparation of concept notes, presentations, communication products and event documentation for INWIC activities.
  • Maintain and update official records and documentation relating to Secretariat-supported activities.
Required Experience

At least five (5) years of relevant professional experience is required. Proven working knowledge of the Montreal Protocol and Ozone Layer protection programmes and projects is required. Experience with international initiatives and public awareness campaigns is desirable. Experience in gender equality and women’s empowerment initiatives is desirable.

Qualifications

At least a Master’s degree in science, environment, engineering, law, business or public policy is required. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree.
