Overview

The Chief of Section, Programme Management, P5 will serve as an advisor on strategic partnerships, advocacy, and communication activities for the UN Youth Office. The role involves developing and managing the implementation of the Office's mandate on youth engagement.


Key Responsibilities
  • Provides policy guidance on strategy development and implementation for youth engagement.
  • Plans and oversees the management of Section activities, including advocacy initiatives, dialogues, and research.
  • Manages, supervises, and carries out the work programme of the Section.
  • Provides substantive input for reports to intergovernmental bodies.
  • Contributes to reporting on budget/programme performance.
  • Ensures high-quality outputs from the Section.
  • Prepares inputs for the Section's work programme, determining priorities and allocating resources.
  • Carries out programmatic/administrative tasks for the Section's functioning.
  • Participates in recruitment for the Section.
  • Manages, guides, develops, and trains staff.
  • Fosters teamwork and communication.
  • Represents the UN Youth Office in inter-agency meetings.
  • Participates in meetings and provides expertise on youth-related issues.
Required Experience

A minimum of ten years of progressively responsible experience in administration, budget, finance, human resources management or related is required. Experience in formulating and implementing youth specific advocacy campaigns is required. A minimum of five years of experience at the international level in youth-focused programmes is required. Experience in leading resource mobilization efforts for youth initiatives is required. Experience in managing public partnerships in a United Nation agency is desirable. Experience in advocacy and communications with donors, the private sector and civil society is desirable.

Qualifications

An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent degree) in business or public administration, finance, accounting, law, social science, communications, or related field is required. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
