Overview

This position supports cooperation with the Independent Institution on Missing Persons for Syria by facilitating information sharing relevant to the search for missing persons and memorialization of the Syrian conflict.


Key Responsibilities
  • Assists in the development of research and analysis strategies and conducts research to identify relevant information.
  • Evaluates and analyzes information to determine relevance and gaps.
  • Organizes and synthesizes relevant information and evidence, including through the use of analytical software(s).
  • Maintains and updates internal databases and uses information management processes and electronic information systems to classify, manage, store, prepare and transfer information packages.
Required Experience

A minimum of two years of progressively responsible work experience in information analysis in the context of missing persons, criminal investigations, international humanitarian law or human rights, or in the context of the Middle East or North Africa region is required. Experience in eDiscovery methodology or big data investigations is desirable. Experience using analytical software is desirable. Experience in relation to the Syrian conflict is desirable. Experience in evidence review is desirable.

Qualifications

Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent degree) in criminology, law, Middle Eastern studies, conflict or security studies, international relations, human rights or criminal law, political/social science or related fields is required. A first-level university degree in combination with 2 additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. Certification or training in intelligence analysis is desirable.
