Overview
The role involves translating documents and acting as an interpreter for internal and external use, ensuring accuracy and precision in communication.
Key Responsibilities
- Translates documents, reports, and website content from English into Arabic and vice versa for internal or external use, ensuring accuracy and precision.
- Acts as interpreter at internal and external meetings, press briefings and other official occasions as required.
- Assists the Head of Creative Digital Multimedia Communications with editing of UNRWA’s official Arab language materials; collaborates with the Communications Division’s Arabic desk in these tasks.
- Edits and proofreads agency-wide documents, as required, including sensitive documents, pertaining to the work of the Executive Office and from other departments such as the Department of Legal Affairs, Department of Human Resources, Ethics Office, Office of the Ombudsman, Protection and Neutrality unit; and assists such departments in overseeing the final production of their key documents, bulletins and other issuances.
- Performs other duties as may be assigned by the Director of Communications, including, where required, in support of other offices or departments in the Agency.
Required Experience
At least seven years of experience in translation and interpretation work from Arabic into English and vice-versa, of which three years were in an international organization.
Qualifications
Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) from an accredited educational institution in English, translation and interpretation or a related field.
