Overview
The Lease Accountant will lead the finance workstream for the FRS 102 conversion programme and hold functional ownership of day-to-day lease accounting operations across a large portfolio, ensuring compliance and providing advice on financial risk.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the finance workstream during the initial implementation phase of the FRS 102 conversion programme.
- Ensure WorkSavi is delivered on time and correctly integrated with PeopleSoft.
- Hold functional ownership and accountability for the day-to-day operation of lease accounting across all asset classes.
- Ensure Oxfam's FRS 102 compliance position remains robust and audit-ready.
- Interpret complex technical accounting matters and provide analysis and advice on lease-related statutory compliance and financial risk.
- Influence managers and teams across the organisation to adopt new procedures and maintain standards.
- Support the Deputy CFO and FRAP team in identifying areas of improvement aligned with FRAM's agreed scope.
- Produce and review financial procedures.
Required Experience
- Advanced specialist and technical knowledge of financial reporting requirements (lease accounting standards) gained through experience.
- Strong understanding of risks and controls.
- Proven experience leading finance process improvement and system implementations, including change management.
- Experience of interpreting complex technical accounting matters and of providing analysis and advice to senior managers and non-finance stakeholders, including on statutory compliance and financial risk.
- Experience of producing and reviewing financial procedures, and of influencing managers to adopt new ways of working and maintain standards.
- Ability to work autonomously across a combination of routine and non-routine issues, prioritising effectively to meet reporting deadlines.
Qualifications
Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
