Overview

Support and advise the Chief of Staff through coordination of strategic prioritization, review of documents, and monitoring of emerging policy and managerial issues. Maintain liaison with divisions and serve as a contact point between senior management and regional offices.


Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate strategic prioritization of communications to the Chief of Staff.
  • Review documents for substance and style, and suggest courses of action.
  • Monitor and identify emerging policy and managerial issues.
  • Coordinate and develop recommendations for action.
  • Liaise with senior management on missions and ensure feedback.
  • Manage the Chief of Staff's day-to-day commitments and appointments.
  • Ensure prompt and efficient communication and coordination.
  • Draft correspondence for and on behalf of the Chief of Staff.
  • Assist in planning and participating in meetings.
  • Ensure the Chief of Staff is effectively able to participate in meetings.
  • Ensure the Chief of Staff has relevant briefing material for meetings.
  • Support the Chief of Staff during meetings.
  • Maintain meeting records and ensure follow-up actions.
  • Facilitate communication between the Chief of Staff and governments, UN, and UN system organizations.
  • Receive and review confidential communications from governments.
  • Identify, analyze, and monitor political developments and emerging issues.
  • Assess implications and make recommendations on policies and strategies.
  • Coordinate the preparation of briefing materials and mission files.
  • Finalize speeches and statements for the Chief of Staff.
  • Guide the Administrative Assistant on logistical preparations for travel.
  • Assist in follow-up actions arising from missions.
  • Collect and analyze data to identify trends and provide insights.
Required Experience

A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in public administration, international relations, law, development management, business administration, or related area is required. At least three (3) years of relevant experience in international and multilateral relations is required. At least three (3) years of relevant experience in a busy executive office with the United Nations or similar international organization is required. At least two (2) years or more of experience in data analytics or related area is desirable.

Qualifications

Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) degree in political science, international relations, law, business administration, or related field is required. A first-level degree (Bachelor's degree or equivalent) in the specified fields of studies with two (2) additional years of relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. Successful completion of both degree and non-degree programs in data analytics, business analytics or data science programs is desirable.
