Overview

The Economic Affairs Officer will be responsible for developing databases and technical analyses on international tax cooperation topics, drafting inputs for technical papers, and identifying and analysing policy proposals.


Key Responsibilities
  • Develops databases and technical analyses on topics in international tax cooperation.
  • Drafts specified inputs for technical papers and analytical studies.
  • Contributes inputs to draft treaty provisions and technical papers.
  • Identifies and analyses policy proposals relating to assigned topics.
  • Attends international, regional, and national meetings to collect information.
  • Assists in the organization and servicing of expert group meetings, seminars, etc.
  • Prepares speeches and other inputs for presentations by senior staff.
  • Follows and assists with the conduct of intergovernmental meetings.
  • Assist in the preparation, finalization and dissemination of pre- and post-committee session documentation and summary reports.
  • Prepares inputs to statements by members of the Bureau and Secretariat staff.
  • Assists in the organization of inter-sessional and informal meetings.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
  • Undertakes on-the-job and other training activities.
Required Experience

A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in tax policy and administration, economic research and analysis, policy formulation and application of economic principles in development programmes is required. Experience in international tax cooperation in particular on dispute preventions and resolution is required.

Qualifications

An advanced university degree (Master’s or Doctorate degree, or equivalent) in taxation, economics, law, development or related fields is required. A first-level degree (Bachelor’s degree or equivalent) in the specified fields of studies with two additional years of relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
