Overview

The Monitoring Officer (Child Rights) will contribute to UNICEF Programming efficiency and effectiveness by monitoring UNICEF Programme and ensuring availability of evidence for child-focused programming by Government and other partners.


Key Responsibilities
  • Strengthening national data systems for child rights monitoring.
  • Influencing the national child rights monitoring system, agenda, policies and programming to position outcomes for children.
  • Managing and coordinating UNICEF's evidence planning.
  • UNICEF programme management in child rights monitoring.
  • Supporting the Head of Office in ensuring compliance with UNICEF Programme Procedures.
  • Development and implementation of the monitoring framework for UNICEF Eswatini’s programme.
Required Experience

At least 2 years of relevant professional experience in development, research, planning, monitoring and evaluation, social development planning, data management and analytics, or a related field, including at least 1 year of experience working with data and analytics is required.

Qualifications

Bachelor or equivalent (First Level University Degree) in Social Science, Statistics, Public Policy, Business Administration, Economics, International Relations, International Development, Political Science, Data Science, or another related field is required.

Languages Required
Fluency in English and Siswati is required.
Languages Preferred
Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset. Familiarity with child rights and normative frameworks regarding child rights are desirable. Background and/or familiarity with emergencies are considered an added asset. Previous experience within the United Nations system is desirable.
