Overview
The National Security Officer will provide technical and operational support on all security-related aspects of IOM Cameroon operations, contributing to maintaining security awareness, preparedness, compliance, and response capacity.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain working relationships with security authorities.
- Monitor and analyse the security situation and communicate developments.
- Support the development, review, implementation, and testing of security plans.
- Support the conduct and follow-up of Security Risk Management processes.
- Develop and maintain an understanding of IOM programmes and operational footprint.
- Conduct security assessments of IOM offices, field locations, and facilities.
- Support the management of the IOM Cameroon warden system and communications.
- Record, monitor, and report security incidents.
- Provide security briefings and coordinate travel security requirements.
- Provide guidance and technical support to security personnel.
- Implement and manage security access control procedures.
- Provide security policy guidance and monitor compliance.
- Support engagement with UNDSS security coordination mechanisms.
- Provide support in the conduct and follow-up of investigations.
- Respond to security queries and provide advice.
- Perform other assigned duties.
Required Experience
- University degree with two years of relevant professional experience; or, Master’s degree is desirable.
- At least two years of progressively responsible professional experience in security, safety, risk management, humanitarian operations, public administration, military, police, private security, or a related field.
- Experience supporting security risk assessments, incident reporting, access control, movement security, emergency preparedness, and security coordination is desirable.
- Experience working with the UNSMS, UNDSS, government security structures, or humanitarian/security coordination mechanisms in Cameroon or the Central Africa region is an advantage.
- UNDSS security certifications are desirable.
Qualifications
- University degree in Security Management, Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Law, Criminal Justice, Risk Management, or a related field from an accredited academic institution.
- Master’s degree in the above fields from an accredited academic institution is desirable.
