Overview

The Local Security Assistant will assist in the implementation and coordination of security and administrative tasks to ensure the quality and accuracy of work within the Security Unit. The role promotes a client, quality, and results-oriented approach while performing crucial operations functions.


Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in monitoring security situations and providing security information through regular/flash reports.
  • Maintain networking with security stakeholders to ensure effective program implementation.
  • Accompany staff to security-related meetings.
  • Maintain office access and egress SOPs and monitor security guards.
  • Conduct interior patrols and fire safety observations.
  • Report potential/actual breaches of office security and unusual activity.
  • Assist in conducting security assessments and providing recommendations.
  • Provide inputs to safety/security contingency plans, procedures, and policies.
  • Establish and update staff files/lists and organize the Warden System.
  • Conduct security briefings for new arrivals or TDYers.
  • Monitor the in-country security situation and report significant incidents.
  • Escort IOM staff on field missions.
  • Report for duty during official holidays and after normal working hours if needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Experience

High School degree with four years of relevant security professional experience, or Bachelor’s degree with minimum of two years of experience in security, law enforcement, military or police context. Added advantage if previous experience in UN/IOM Missions, International Peacekeeping, or International Emergency Missions. Experience in organization and operational execution of security management systems private sector or otherwise is an added advantage. Previous experience in dealing with law enforcement agencies.

Qualifications

High School degree or Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, International Relations, or other relevant field from an accredited academic institution.
