Overview
The Media and Communications Assistant will support the implementation of internal and external communication and media related activities for IOM’s operations in the Pacific sub-region.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide general assistance in the implementation of media and communication-related activities.
- Assist with the preparation of communication products such as success stories, human interest pieces, project briefs, social media content and visibility materials.
- Assist with communication tasks by helping draft and format routine messaging and storytelling materials.
- Support the preparation and dissemination of visibility materials.
- Assist project teams by compiling communication inputs and identifying approved content.
- Support the organization of media and communications coverage for meetings, workshops and training sessions.
- Respond to general information requests and inquiries on media and communications; set up and maintain files/records.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Experience
- High school diploma with three years of relevant experience; or, Bachelor’s degree with one year of relevant experience.
- Experience in media and communication, including preparing content such as stories, social media posts, or simple visibility materials.
- Experience providing administrative or communications support is desirable.
- Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.
- Familiarity with social media platforms and basic content creation tools an advantage.
- Photography, videography, or basic design skills considered an asset.
Qualifications
High school diploma or Bachelor’s degree in communications, media, journalism, development studies, environmental science, international relations or a related field from an accredited academic institution.
