Overview
The Protection Assistant will oversee the implementation of GBV case management activities at safe spaces and mobile response in affected areas. This role involves managing cases, supporting survivors, and advocating for access to services.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the supervision, management, and follow-up of survivors’ cases.
- Ensure care activity respects guiding principles of case management.
- Collect data on reported cases and ensure availability of essential information and tools for referral.
- Share weekly and monthly reports of assisted cases.
- Present a quarterly analysis of GBV cases treated.
- Set up an action plan with survivors for follow-up and support.
- Maintain good relations internally and externally with actors involved in GBV.
- Participate in Protection team meetings, trainings, and workshops.
- Collaborate with other sections within the Protection Program.
- Attend meetings as requested.
- Participate fully in the distribution of dignity kits and related activities.
- Perform other tasks requested by the WPE program hierarchy.
- Ensure good medical care and availability of post-rape kits at health centers.
- Regularly update GBVIMS data collection tools and share reports.
- Ensure protection and retention of survivor information in a secure and confidential space.
- Participate in capacity building of case management focal points.
- Implement tools for monitoring the quality of services provided by health centers.
- Assist with the design and development of training modules.
- Follow guiding principles and treat survivors with respect and compassion.
- Ensure security, safety, and confidentiality of safe spaces.
- Prepare and submit weekly/monthly plans/reports.
- Identify challenges faced by psychosocial focal points and propose solutions.
- Liaise with the IRC team to ensure good referral of cases.
- Carry out assessments in implementing communities as needed.
- Adhere to the IRC Way and safeguarding policies.
- Portray exemplary good behavior.
- Perform any other ad hoc task deemed useful.
- Contribute to the production of weekly and monthly reports.
- Track complaints and document lessons learned, best practices.
- Ensure all activities are implemented in accordance with IRC operational policies.
Required Experience
A minimum of one year of professional experience in a company or in an NGO, CSO with community development initiatives preferably, a proven capacity in community mobilization, identification, registration, and selection of beneficiaries is highly required. Experience in case management, preferably in GBV case management.
