Overview
The Export Development and Promotion Specialist will support a shift towards market- and export-driven development by strengthening the competitiveness of agricultural value chains in the Republic of Karakalpakstan.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive analyses to identify and evaluate high-potential international markets for selected agricultural products.
- Identify and recommend locally produced export-oriented niche agricultural products with high market value.
- Prepare comprehensive market assessment reports identifying priority export destinations, prospective buyers, distribution and marketing channels, pricing strategies, market-entry opportunities, and competitive positioning.
- Assess the existing production capacity and export readiness of agricultural commodities.
- Conduct a comprehensive assessment of production, post-harvest, processing, quality assurance, logistics, marketing, and institutional constraints affecting export competitiveness.
- Assess capacity gaps among local farmers, producer organizations, processors, and agri-exporters.
- Develop comprehensive export market strategies for selected agricultural products targeting priority international markets.
- Develop branding and market positioning concepts for selected agricultural products and producer groups.
- Prepare export development and promotion roadmaps for at least five priority agricultural products.
Required Experience
3 years of professional work experience at the national and/or international level in export development/promotion, international business, or marketing/branding, or other relevant programmes; experience with Central Asian countries is an asset, as is experience working in the UN or other international development organization.
Qualifications
Master's degree in a relevant area, e.g. International Business/Trade or area related to Agribusiness/Economics; a first-level university degree or equivalent in combination with relevant training and/or professional experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree.
