Overview
The Information Management Officer (ActivityInfo) will operationalize the core Monitoring System by migrating and structuring data, stabilizing workflows, setting up dashboards, and documenting processes for continued maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete priority migration/import of historical and current partner reporting and reference data into ActivityInfo; map fields, transform, validate and reconcile records, and document migration results.
- Configure and optimize forms, reference tables, validation rules, metadata, update procedures and data-quality checks required for routine use.
- Stabilize and optimize standardized Partner/M&E Excel templates used for data preparation and ActivityInfo import, including Power Query/M, validation rules, lookup tables and automated checks.
- Keep Excel tools aligned with ActivityInfo structures and document the update process.
- Establish and optimize required dataflows, connections, semantic models, relationships, DAX calculations and refresh processes linking ActivityInfo and other approved UNICEF data sources.
- Support development and operationalization of the core Monitoring System Power BI dashboard and priority supporting analytical views.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation, data dictionary, change log, SOPs, update/refresh procedures and troubleshooting guidance.
- Transfer knowledge to designated UNICEF staff and support practical user adoption.
- Carry out other related tasks in the framework of the new Monitoring system development if key tasks are completed early.
Required Experience
- Minimum 3+ years of relevant hands-on professional experience in information management, data management, business intelligence, reporting systems, database support or related areas.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience implementing, configuring or substantially improving operational data management or business-intelligence systems, including moving solutions from development or prototype stage into routine use.
- Demonstrated experience with data migration, field mapping, transformation, cleaning, deduplication, reconciliation and validation of large or complex datasets.
- Experience documenting technical solutions and operational procedures, transferring knowledge to non-technical users and supporting safe handling of programme data; experience with system handover or transition to business-as-usual support is an asset.
- Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills; ability to work independently, prioritize deliverables within a fixed implementation timeline, troubleshoot technical issues and meet deadlines.
- Strong practical proficiency in: ActivityInfo or a comparable web-based data management platform, including forms/databases, reference data, validation rules and bulk import; direct ActivityInfo experience is highly desirable.
- Microsoft Excel (advanced), including Power Query (M), structured tables, advanced formulas, data validation, lookup/reference data and PivotTables.
- Power BI, including Power Query, data modelling, DAX, dashboard development, Power BI Service, dataflows, semantic models and refresh processes.
Qualifications
Master's degree in Information Management, Data Science, Data Analytics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Management Information Systems (MIS), Information Technology, Statistics, Data Engineering, Database Management, Monitoring and Evaluation, Quantitative Methods or related field.
