Overview

The Climate Change & Environment Officer will contribute to UNICEF programmes on climate change education, disaster risk reduction, and education in emergencies, with a focus on equity and the impact of climate change on disadvantaged populations.


Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the development, design, and management of the Education Section’s DRR, climate change, and environment portfolio.
  • Support strategic planning, coordination, and implementation of office-wide climate change mitigation interventions.
  • Lead research and knowledge generation on climate change and education impacts on children.
  • Enhance climate change mainstreaming in UNICEF Vietnam Country Office programming.
  • Contribute to social and behaviour change strategies for environmentally sustainable lifestyles.
  • Support Education in emergencies interventions.
  • Develop policy position papers, advocacy materials, and briefing notes.
  • Contribute to interventions promoting gender equality, inclusion, and equity.
  • Provide technical inputs to cross-sectoral initiatives.
  • Support experimentation of innovative climate solutions in schools and monitor progress.
  • Provide oversight of DRR, climate change, and environmental issues portfolio.
  • Track DRR and climate change indicators in the Annual Work Plan.
  • Lead management of assigned grants, including financial management, visibility, donor engagement, and reporting.
  • Support donor relations management and communication efforts.
  • Identify resource mobilization opportunities and prepare funding proposals.
  • Develop and foster strategic partnerships with various stakeholders.
  • Maintain engagement with regional and global technical networks.
Required Experience

7 years of experience in education, equity and inclusion, climate change or related areas. Demonstrated experience in working on education or climate issues for at least 3 years.

Qualifications

Master's degree in social sciences and specialization in climate-related study or education issues.
