Overview
Provide technical support to the Climate Change, Water, Energy and Environment (CCWEE) Portfolio for project pipeline development, diagnostics, and policy integration.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to energy initiatives by providing technical support in the design and implementation of energy transition and energy efficiency programs.
- Support project pipeline development by gathering technical data in renewable energy, energy efficiency, cooling, and demand-side management.
- Participate in diagnostics and assessments under fragile-state conditions.
- Assist in aligning interventions with Yemen’s NDC commitments.
- Contribute to policy analysis and advisory work on energy transition and decarbonization pathways.
- Support integration of energy priorities into national planning frameworks.
- Support project design and implementation of energy projects within UNDP Yemen.
- Liaise with the Environment and Energy Team at the Amman Regional Hub to identify financing opportunities.
- Contribute to documentation by preparing concept notes, project documents, and donor proposals.
- Facilitate structured coordination with national stakeholders.
- Support UNDP Yemen in technical meetings, workshops, and consultations.
- Strengthen partnerships and stakeholder engagement mechanisms.
- Support monitoring and reporting of project activities.
- Contribute to the preparation of progress reports, knowledge products, and communication materials.
- Assist in safeguarding project implementation.
- Support integration of gender equality and social inclusion into energy programming.
- Promote digitalization and innovation where relevant.
- Promote volunteerism through active engagement with UNV initiatives.
- Contribute to knowledge sharing, documentation, and outreach activities.
Required Experience
- 1 month Donor priorities . Nationality Candidate must be a national of a country other than the country of assignment. Additional eligibility criteria This assignment is funded by the Government of the Russian Federation, therefore specific criteria apply:
- Applicants must be Russian nationals with a permanent residency in the Russian Federation. Dual nationals are not eligible.
- Applicants must have completed at least one bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a higher state educational institution of the Russian Federation and provide three professional references with at least one from a Russian resident.
Skills and experience
- Climate Change Mitigation.
- Renewable energy technologies.
- Previous experience as a volunteer and/or experience of another culture, (i.e. studies, volunteer work, internship) would be highly regarded.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Renewable Energy, Climate Change, International Development, Economics, Engineering or related field is required.
