Overview
Provide technical and practical training to communities and assist in project design and management for water security/WASH intervention projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in community project orientation and deliver technical training
- Carry out site technical feasibility assessments
- Develop designs and scopes of work
- Prepare technical requirements or detailed engineering design documents
- Ensure management of construction projects meets scope, timeline, quality, and budget
- Inform of any delays or actions required
- Assist in organizing CWGs or implementing partners for labor force requirements
- Conduct safety and technical orientations and mentor CWGs
- Work closely with Procurement Unit on specifications and BoQ requirements
- Conduct technical evaluation of quotes
- Plan and coordinate material delivery
- Act as team leader during travel and field work
- Prepare project status reports
- Maintain communication with communities and government partners
- Use AutoCAD to review blueprints, draft plans, and modify drawings
- Update and incorporate changes to buildings on “as-built” drawings
- Comply with IOM's policies and procedures
- Undertake duty travel in project implementation areas
Required Experience
- Four years of relevant professional experience
- Experience in the field of construction engineering and contract management
- Experience in the usage of office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc.)
- Experience with camping/backpacking in remote, hardship and/or rustic locations for longer periods of time (1-2 weeks)
- Experience working with a non-governmental organizations and/or international organization an advantage
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in civil engineering, architecture or a related field from an accredited academic institution
- University degree in civil engineering, architecture or a related field
- Certification as a licensed professional engineer or architect
