Overview
This internship focuses on digital communications within the UN Office to the African Union, involving content creation for social media and website, and supporting communication strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct research and draft engaging content for social media platforms.
- Assist in the creation of digital visual content.
- Contribute creative ideas to enhance digital communication strategies.
- Support live coverage of events and develop content for the UNOAU Website.
- Assist in the daily monitoring of social media accounts.
- Provide support to internal communication efforts.
- Assist with photo and video coverage of appointments and high-level engagements.
- Support research and analysis on regional trends related to Gender and the Women, Peace and Security agenda.
- Assist in compiling data and background information on the impact of conflict on women and girls.
- Participate in the planning and delivery of Gender and WPS-related events.
Required Experience
Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. A field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required.
Qualifications
- Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or, be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent).
- Field of study must be closely related to Communications, Media Studies, Public Relations, Journalism, International Relations, Political Science, Gender Studies, Peace and Security Studies etc.
- Proficiency in standard word processing and software applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint or similar.
- Familiar with social media platforms and digital content creation tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, video editing software).
