Overview

Internship opportunity with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) focusing on drug control and treaty monitoring.


Key Responsibilities
  • Collect and analyze information on drug control approaches and developments.
  • Assist in evaluating Government compliance with international drug control conventions.
  • Provide support in the substantive servicing of INCB sessions, including research and documentation preparation.
  • Contribute to the preparation of various documents, newsletters, and public information materials.
  • Assist in the analysis of responses to INCB questionnaires.
  • Assist in the implementation of INCB decisions.
  • Assist in the analysis of data submitted by competent national authorities.
  • Attend and take notes at meetings.
  • Perform other tasks as required.
Required Experience

Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience.

Qualifications
  • Applicants must be enrolled in, or have recently completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or be enrolled in, or have recently completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent).
  • Be computer literate in standard software applications.
  • Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter.
  • Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs.
Other Details
Languages Required
• Fluency in spoken and written English is required.
Languages Preferred
• Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage.
Contract Duration
Maximum of 6 months
Work Modality
The internship will be in person at the duty station, local conditions permitting, with the option of flexible working arrangements.
Remuneration
Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
