Overview
The role involves providing national-level statistical support for the Agricultural Information Management System (AIMS) dataset preparation, indicator harmonization, and metadata development.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and harmonize national AIMS indicators.
- Align national indicator definitions with AIMS, CAADP, LIMS, and FAOSTAT requirements.
- Update and complete national AIMS metadata sheets.
- Provide technical support to national AIMS Technical Working Group.
- Support the development of a national AIMS data-update workplan.
- Apply a rapid data-quality assessment protocol.
- Validate datasets produced by the assigned Member State.
- Prepare concise dataset validation notes.
- Provide guidance on AIMS data formats, metadata templates, coding standards, and indicator computation.
- Support mapping of national datasets to AIMS indicator structures.
- Provide statistical guidance for integration with LIMS and CAADP platforms.
- Conduct completeness, consistency, and plausibility checks.
- Support national teams in applying agreed indicator formulas.
- Ensure national datasets align with AIMS dashboard requirements.
- Deliver virtual technical coaching sessions.
- Provide targeted, practical guidance materials.
- Prepare brief monthly national progress summaries.
- Produce a final national technical report.
- Assist national AIMS focal points in data entry into the AIMS platform.
- Perform quality checks on entered data.
- Document data entry protocols and provide on-the-job guidance.
Required Experience
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in agricultural or national statistics systems.
- Experience with data harmonization, metadata development, and statistical methodologies.
- Knowledge of SADC agricultural data systems and familiarity with LIMS, CAADP, and FAOSTAT indicators.
Qualifications
• Advanced university degree in Statistics, Agricultural Statistics, Data Science, or a related field.
