Overview
The Construction Engineering Technician - Analyst will coordinate and oversee daily operations related to infrastructure activities, including evaluation, design, construction management, and site supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce precise execution plans (formwork, reinforcement, layouts) and perform preliminary structural sizing.
- Supervise the conformity of company work with technical specifications and price schedules.
- Ensure periodic reporting, update site agendas, and evaluate progress for payment validation.
- Oversee strict adherence to health and safety standards (HSE) and material quality through testing programs.
- Participate in design.
- Implement technical and architectural knowledge of structures.
- Apply construction or space-related regulations.
- Create architectural drawings and plans from sketches.
- Produce all graphic elements of projects, including perspectives and rendering images.
- Perform preliminary structural sizing.
- Establish execution and detail plans from sizing calculation notes (formwork, reinforcement, reservations, networks, etc.).
- Draw sketches, assembly drawings, or detail drawings using CAD software (AutoCad, Covadis, Mensura, etc.) from topographic data and other information (sizing notes, sketches, etc.).
- Assist in infrastructure evaluation, data collection, and design/rehabilitation of work supervision methodologies.
- Review the BPU (unit price schedule) and specific terms of reference to ensure consistency and quality.
- Perform any other technical tasks as directed by the project construction engineer.
- Keep the site agenda updated and prepare work progress reports according to UNOPS operational standards.
- Periodically evaluate the work of contracted companies and make recommendations to the project construction engineer for related payments.
- Supervise selected service providers/companies for rehabilitation/reconstruction work.
- Monitor company work schedules and provide necessary support for qualitative and quantitative achievement in accordance with plans and contract clauses.
- Participate in analyzing the conformity of contractor proposals with Technical Specifications and approve implemented modalities, recommending more adequate procedures if necessary.
- Assist in defining and controlling test programs required for work quality evaluation.
- Assist in ensuring compliance with health and safety standards during work implementation.
Required Experience
- Four years of experience in the road infrastructure sector are required.
- Experience in road infrastructure and rehabilitation work evaluation is highly recommended.
- Experience in project execution and site acceptance of works is recommended.
Qualifications
- Mandatory: A higher technician diploma in Civil Engineering and/or Public Works (BAC+3) is required.
- Desired: A BAC+5 engineering diploma would be a considerable asset.
