Overview
Consultancy to develop a national guideline on the management of clinical, psychiatric, and psychological disorders in adults and children in Iraq, contextualizing international guidelines to local needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate multi-level consultations to understand MHPSS service optimization.
- Conduct mapping of available MHPSS resources and treatment guidelines.
- Assess coordination gaps and needs in MHPSS across governmental sectors.
- Review global treatment guidelines (ICD10, DSM V, MhGAP) and adapt to local context.
- Assess existing national mental health strategies for integration.
- Review regional practices and treatment protocols.
- Engage with mental health practitioner networks.
- Analyse information to inform guideline design.
- Propose recommendations for guideline utilization.
- Identify MHPSS-related roles and capacity within the Iraqi health system.
- Recommend training plans for local actors and government counterparts.
Required Experience
- At least 7 years of relevant professional experience in mental health.
- Experience in design and/or implementation of MHPSS interventions in conflict/post-conflict settings.
- Proven experience in stakeholder mapping, analysis, and design of strategic frameworks, documents, and treatment guidelines.
- Extensive understanding and application of counselling and therapeutic approaches.
- Extensive experience in providing MHPSS in clinical and non-clinical settings.
- Extensive knowledge of global guidelines for treating MHPSS issues (MhGAP, DSM V, ICD 10).
- Experience liaising and building partnerships with government authorities and/or national/international institutions (desired).
- In-depth theoretical and practical knowledge of IASC MHPSS in Emergency Settings guidelines and associated products (desired).
- Demonstrable knowledge of political and humanitarian issues and/or work experience in Iraq or the Middle East (advantage).
- Experience working with a UN agency (desirable).
Qualifications
• Master’s degree in Psychiatry, Clinical Psychology, Psychology, Social Work, Public Health, or a related mental health field.
