Overview
The Epidemiologist is responsible for leading and coordinating epidemiological activities within the medical team, focusing on early identification of risk factors and enhancing treatment and preventive practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Developing, organizing, and scheduling the epidemiological activity plan.
- Overseeing the implementation of protocols and epidemiological methods.
- Supervising research projects.
- Providing expert advice on epidemiological issues.
- Ensuring effective data collection and analysis.
- Supporting multiple projects, addressing issues such as mortality surveys and tracking disease spread.
- Conducting community surveys.
- Preparing project donor reports and analytical new business development.
- Helping plan responses to disease outbreaks.
- Building the capacity of HIS team to analyse and interpret results to support evidence-based clinical decision-making.
Required Experience
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in clinical epidemiology or public health research, preferably within humanitarian or healthcare settings.
- Proven track record of managing epidemiological research projects, including designing protocols, overseeing data collection, and reporting findings.
- Proven practical skills with software for epidemiological database and statistical analysis (Microsoft Excel and at least one statistical program).
- Proven practical skills in the design/ implementation/ evaluation of quantitative and qualitative epidemiological research methods.
Qualifications
Master’s Degree in Epidemiology, or a Master’s in Public Health with extensive epidemiology training.
