Overview

The purpose of this consultancy is to support the Egypt Country Representative in developing programmatic response to the impact of regional crises (preparedness and response) in Egypt. The consultant will be responsible for supporting the Representative in developing related action plans and preparing for high-level events, meetings, and conferences.


Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Representative in leading internal coordination structures linked to Office response to regional crises and emergencies, and follow-up on the implementation of ECMT actions across sections.
  • Prepares a weekly briefing note on the humanitarian situation in neighboring countries and within the region with particular emphasis on how this impacts UNICEF programming in Egypt.
  • In coordination with Programme team and DRP, participates in the formulation, development, and updating of preparedness and response plans, surge, contingency plans and the establishment of early warning mechanisms, to ensure effective preparedness and response to specific emergencies.
  • Supports reflections on the nexus and emergency work and any adjustments needed.
  • Supports the identification of problems and constraints to ensure effective programme delivery and prepares reports on the delivery of emergency assistance, supplies, and services.
  • Supports the Representative participation in relevant humanitarian and recovery related fora (e.g. supporting the preparation of briefing notes, advocacy messages, talking points, presentations, etc.) supports information collection and dissemination within the Office related to humanitarian developments in the region and country responses, linked to policies, strategy, situation developments, potential threats and opportunities/issues in partnership.
  • Supports coordination with other UNICEF offices in the region as needed for information sharing, joint advocacy opportunities, etc., including with relevant sector groups.
  • Supports the Chief PME in the preparation, coordination, and follow up from quarterly meetings with national partners.
Required Experience

Minimum 5–8 years of experience in humanitarian coordination or emergency response.

Qualifications

Advanced university degree in a relevant field
