Overview
The Innovation Specialist (Behavioural Science) will apply behavioural insights to different programmatic areas across FAO at global, regional, and country levels.
Key Responsibilities
- Support, Coordinate or Lead the implementation of formative behavioural science research, literature reviews and scoping exercises.
- Support, Coordinate or Lead teams in the implementation of the application of behavioural science by a stepwise approach to promote human-centered thinking and generate behavioural insights.
- Support, Coordinate or Lead teams in the piloting of behavioural science projects in the field, including co-design of interventions.
- Support, Coordinate or Lead teams in the organization and implementation of co-innovation workshops.
- Support, Coordinate or Lead teams in the development of new toolkits, playbooks and frameworks.
- Support, Coordinate or Lead teams in the application of qualitative, quantitative and/or mixed methods research to capture evidence generated from behavioural science applications.
- Support, Coordinate or Lead teams in the iteration of interventions to identify scalable policy elements.
- Any other duties as required.
Required Experience
- At least 1 year (category C), 5 years (category B) of relevant work experience in applied behavioural science expertise, application of qualitative, quantitative and/or mixed research methods, research instruments, protocols, recruitment screening procedures, enumerator trainings and pre-analysis plans, behavioural design in prototyping, user testing and other related participatory research designs, behavioural co-design workshop planning, event planning and/or management, design and/or delivery of introductory training on behavioural science concepts and processes, project management, and relationship management.
- Experience supporting, coordinating or leading behaviour change projects.
- Pilot and field-work experience applying behavioural principles in agriculture-related programmes.
- Experience enabling the uptake of innovations in vulnerable communities with exposure to LIMC contexts preferred.
- Familiarity with liaising with central and decentralized offices and field teams, preferably in the United Nations context, will be considered an asset.
- Familiarity with use cases for artificial intelligence as an additional tool for behavioural science research will be considered an asset.
Qualifications
- Advanced university degree from an institution recognized by the International Association of Universities (IAU)/UNESCO in behavioural science, behavioural economics or other related discipline relevant to the work of the Organization. Consultants with bachelor's degree need two additional years of relevant professional experience.
- University degree, technical specification or equivalent in behavioural science, behavioural economics or other related discipline relevant to the work of the Organization (for PSA Subscribers).
- University degree in behavioural science, behavioural economics, decision sciences, psychology, statistics, sociology, economics or a related field (for Selection Criteria).
