Overview
The Social Media Officer will be responsible for researching, planning, preparing, disseminating, and analyzing social media content in accordance with UNIC Tokyo priorities and the Japanese context. The role involves managing social media accounts and the office's blog.
Key Responsibilities
- Research local and global topics for social media.
- Update and manage editorial calendar.
- Create content using provided photos, graphics, and videos.
- Ensure timely dissemination of content.
- Prepare and publish blog articles.
- Monitor and analyze post results.
- Monitor social media trends and risks.
- Monitor information integrity on digital platforms.
- Supervise intern(s).
- Coordinate with staff and partners for content promotion.
Required Experience
- At least 3 years of professional work experience at the national and/or international level in digital communication, public relations, marketing, and media or other relevant programmes.
- Experience with working in the UN or other international organizations is an asset.
- Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in social media (X, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube), various MS Office applications (Teams, Excel, Word, etc.), and online analytics tools; and office technology equipment.
- Excellent visual editing skills, such as using Illustrator, Photoshop, and Canva; experience with video editing is an asset.
- Excellent oral and written skills; excellent drafting, formulation, reporting skills.
- Accuracy and professionalism in document production and editing.
- Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners.
- Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment.
- Ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel.

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Media, Communications, Sociology, International relations, other Social sciences or area related to Digital communication or Information science.
